I'm back!

Perdoname! I'm sorry if I have made you feel that I have forgotten about you! I have been incredibly busy and up until a few days ago my camera was out of commission. But! All is well, very well in fact, let me catch you up...

I know it has been a really, really long time.

Two fun and important things have happened that I would like to share with you.

The first was el día de la mujer, March 8th. The last two pictures up there are of some special ladies in my Cuencan family. My momma, Mariana, is in the first photo next to me, and the other photo is of two of my sisters and two nieces. Kelsey (another student in my program who is living with one of my mom's daughters here) and I took our moms and sisters out for a lovely dinner on our special day. It was really fun to laugh and share stories, and the moon was even full for the women of the world.

The second awesome thing that has happened lately, although most things are pretty awesome, was our visit to El Cajas National Park. Wow. It is part of the páramo, one of the Andean ecosystems, and is full of beautiful lakes and grassy plains. The páramo is home to llamas and alpaca, and the false scorpion up in a photo. The other arachnid up there, in the palm of my hand, is one of my good Cuencan friends. He lives in Amarú, the zoo here, and I have the pleasure of sometimes taking care of him.

The grotesque photo...is my foot. After getting thrown around a rocky cove by some waves. Oh yeah, we went to the ocean! It was fabulous and we watched the sunset every night and had fresh seafood and ceviche and swam in bioluminescence every night.

There are also wild political happenings happening in Ecuador right now, I promise to tell you about them very, very soon! I miss you all and hope that all is well back in the U.S. of A.
