Aqui estoy

Here I am. Tonight in one of the two most important South American cities in the colonial period, Quito, Ecuador. From my shower I can see beautiful, towering mountains. I can't wait to see them in the daylight. The woman in charge of our program, Narcisa, told us that Quito is a sausage of a city, enclosed in a thin strip of mountain ranges. She also told us that we might meet the president tomorrow! Que chevere. I'll figure out how to type accents soon, I promise. I have already begun speaking spanish, and it feels great. Tomorrow we will take a tour of the city and meet with one of the most important women in the field of ecology. She has been fighting mining companies and such in Latin America for many years. Narcisa says that this woman, Mary Ellen, can get me a job here if I ever need one. I think I may change the title of this blog to "Narcisa says". You've got to meet her. Anyhow, thank you family for a lovely send off. I will keep you posted on the wonders I witness. Buenas noches.
